Join Cimarron Opera for a Salon Series Recital celebrating the music of local composer Beverly McLarry. A composer, singer, voice teacher, and choral director, Beverly has been creating music in and about Oklahoma for several decades. Her works reflect a deep connection to our state and the experiences of life in Oklahoma.
This varied program will feature selections from her many Oklahoma-inspired works, along with other art songs, duets, trios, ensembles, and children’s choruses. Together, these pieces offer an opportunity to explore the breadth of her vocal writing and celebrate her longstanding contributions to Oklahoma’s musical community.

About Beverly McLarry
Beverly McLarry began studying composition at Interlochen with Homer Keller. A graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, she was the first woman to receive the institution’s “honors in music” distinction. She earned her master’s degree from Southern Methodist University, where she studied with Mack Harrell.
In addition to her work as a composer and singer, Beverly has served as a voice teacher and choral director. For several years, she was conductor and composer-in-residence of the Norman Singers. In 1983, Governor George Nigh and the Oklahoma Federation of Music Clubs presented Beverly McLarry with the “Oklahoma Musicians of the Year” award.
Beverly resides in Oklahoma City, and her music forms part of a creative legacy built over decades of composing, performing, and teaching in Oklahoma.
About the Salon Series
The Salon Series presents recitals, concerts, and chamber operas in non-traditional venues across Norman and the wider Oklahoma community throughout the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Previous Salon Series locations include train stations, bars, churches, wineries, storefronts, private homes, small theaters, art galleries, and more.
