Not sure what to expect (or what to wear) when going to the opera? This section includes tips to help you and your fellow opera-goers get the most out of the experience.
Dress in whatever you are comfortable in. A night at the opera can be an opportunity to get dressed in formal attire, but casual attire is also perfectly acceptable. You may see some people in satin gowns, and others in jeans and cowboy boots -- it's all good.
Please respect others' enjoyment by turning off cell phones, pagers and watch alarms.
Please arrive on time, so as not to distract the performers and other audience members.
The overture or prelude marks the beginning of the performance. Please stop talking at this point and get ready to enjoy the show!
